OK. I admit, back on my iMacDV I did run Virex during the free beta period. When that ended, some insane paranoia caused me to switch to Symantec. Upon benchmarking and other speedtesting on my MacBook, I removed it. I haven't run ANY antivirus on my MacBooks in the last 2 years without any failure. I find that simple firewalling and router settings have kept my machine problem-free? I have an external HDD that Time Machine keeps updated for me hourly, and I don't understand the need for this product, or others like it? Really. I've got 30 years of I.T. experience and I simply choose not to slow my Mac down with this sort of thing. I open all my email, download lots, and browse tirelessly without worry. Is it just peace-of-mind that necessitates the expense of a product like this? I'm happy with Time Machine and wonder what it is that you're getting with this software that Time Machine's scheduled FREE hourly backups doesn't provide? Especially when I see that Time Machine actually cures all of the issues I've seen mentioned which are caused by this software... but if it makes you feel better... send me your money, I'll tell you that you're OK weekly rather than running a long laborious scan getting the same result... This might be better discussed in a forum, but I couldn't hold back, and wanted to put it out there for people like my dad who are looking at this going "eek! I need to protect myself against terrorism!"
