Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Have Not Tried

Recommend Product: NO

I only stopped by to add a comment. I sure as hell won't be trying it out. Screensavers have not been necessary for at least a decade and, in any event, they don't do any such thing.

The alleged purpose of a screensaver is to avoid "burning in" an image that remains on your screen for hours. (Actually, years used to be more like it!)

So what the hell can the benefit be of a combined screensaver and desktop picture? A desktop picture is one that stays on your screen for...um...how long?

A bit like the manufacturers who insult your intelligence by claiming that their product is both shampoo and conditioner is one. What a laugh.

"I only stopped by to add a comment." If the comment's as pointless as that, you shouldn't have wasted your time.

"Screensavers have not been necessary for at least a decade and, in any event, they don't do any such thing."

Actually they do. While greatly diminished, burn-in is still a reality on modern displays.

"The alleged purpose of a screensaver is to avoid "burning in" an image that remains on your screen for hours. (Actually, years used to be more like it!)"

It took an extended period to really manifest visibly, but hours at a time over the course of a few months used to be enough.

"So what the hell can the benefit be of a combined screensaver and desktop picture? A desktop picture is one that stays on your screen for...um...how long?"

A) Screensavers move
B) Other things that will be sitting on top of the screensaver also move.
C) Most screen savers today are really about entertainment. All the more reason for them to run while the user is actually sitting there.

A bit like the manufacturers who insult your intelligence by claiming that their product is both shampoo and conditioner is one. What a laugh.

Quite possibly the stupidest "review" I've ever seen at VT. I'd bet twenty bucks he didn't even try it.
