There is an issue with the latest Leopard release that affects DT. Clicking on your custom dock while in another application does switch you over to DT, but the custom dock only appears for an instant and then disappears behind other windows. Jame Thomson, DT's incredibly responsive author, replied to my email in less than twelve hours and provided this temporary work-around: disable Desktop Trash. He's working with Apple on a real fix.
