I have a Laserjet 1200 and a Photosmart 2610xi connected to an iMac G5. When I got the 2610 a couple of years (?) ago, the 1200 stopped printing. HP told me the laserjet and the inkjet divisions do not work together, so I was out of luck. When Leopard came out, I bought it hoping my problems would be solved. Both printers worked flawlessly, but the reason was we never bothered to load the scanner function. My daughter needed it last week, so I pulled out the disc and reloaded the software, in order to get the scanner to work. Now, the scanner works, as well as the copier and printer (haven't had to fax anything since), but the 1200 doesn't work now.

I found this website and anxiously installed the Photosmart driver. Still no luck; the 1200 status is "connecting", but never prints (before this install, it was "stopped").

Is the 1200 too old and should just be junked? Is it a bad idea to buy two different HP printers for the same computer (better to use two different brands?)
