The combo updater is kind of standard, MS. I am not going to go thru PC hell on my Mac for MS anymore. WORD and Office are off the radar from now on.
Someone please write a decent Mac suite to compete effectively.
Microsoft Office 2004

The lack of combo updater means you must run 11 updates after doing a fresh install of MS Office 2004.Totally stupid. A complete waste of time. They should know better.

you're right - som1
Have you ever done a fresh install of the first Windows XP or even SP1 in the last 2-3 years? That's what I call update hell! You'll have to reboot a million times to make the gazillion fixes and patches effective.Office 2004 is also bad but at least you won't have to reboot (as far as I remember).

I give up... - NonEgo
Years ago, I replaced MS Office with OpenOffice.org - the X11 version - both at home and in my office. An Aqua (native) version is available now, version 2.40, on VersionTracker.
I have been using the beta 3.0 version with great success.
It is available for Intel and PPC Macs, as well as Linux and the other platform..
You can get it at http://ooopackages.good-day.net/pub/OpenOffice.org/MacOSX/
OOo release version 3.0 should be available in the very near future.
