There are several posts and responses on this page and elsewhere suggesting to pay and go for v3 and those posts are from none other than the developer himself. True, he deserves to be paid but what he needs to do is to get out of the beta and release the stable version, make it shareware expect to get paid. That's the only way to make money. Running an application in beta for nearly a year is not a good sign.

As for the posts/responses stating v2.6 is so old that it does not work anymore is WRONG!! I have tried v2.6 with dozens of latest releases of Hollywood movies including the ones from Pixar who are notorious for introducing bad sectors, etc. to make these DVD copy programs fail. v2.6 has worked just as fine as v3 with absolutely no differences in performance. I noticed that v2.6 displays different space requirements for full disk extraction (more) and main feature extraction (less) while v3 displays the same disk space as needed for both modes. On another occasion, while trying to rip the Snow Buddies movie, both versions of the program bombed half-way. I tried ripping two other copies of the same movie and they all bombed indicating v2.6 and v3 are not good enough to tackle the modern copy protection techniques. In this case of Snow Buddies, I tried Fairmount and it mounted the DVD without a glitch and I was able to copy the files to my hard disk and then rip them later. Fairmount worked where MacTheRipper v2.6 and v3 failed.

Bottom line - v2.6 is just as good as v3 and there is absolutely no truth in saying v2.6 is too old to work. Its just an old wine in the new bottle - maybe with some bug fixes, enhancements that are too transparent to make any difference.
