Like everyone else, I'm fed up with SPAM. I have been using SpamSieve for a few years, but lately more and more "sneaky SPAM" has been getting through.

I went on the hunt for another SPAM tool for Mac OS X. Not much to choose from, especially since Apple Mail does not easily allow for configuring a proxy server. May SPAM solutions require the use of a proxy. This enables the SPAM software to check the mail before passing it on to your mail client (i.e. it gets up ahead of you and looks at the messages before you do.)

Purify is able to create a proxy environment that works seamlessly with Apple Mail. Once I familiarized myself with all the workings (it's quite thorough and with a little patience will astound you!), I configured it to begin filtering my email.

At the same time I enables SpamAssassin on my mail server (part of my Hosting Provider package.) Purify caught everything SpamAssassin did and a few things it missed. I could stay with SpamAssassin, but the downside is that I have to enter whitelist (allowed email items) into my webmail interface. It doesn't have an integration with Apple Mail.

This is where Purify shines. You can mark messages right from Apple Mail using AppleScripts out-of-the-box, or craft your own. You can train Purify, but it doesn't really need much training. It can check for words and phrases, even those that are obfuscated. All of this in addition to using bayesian and other techniques to provide a robust guardian of your inbox.

Try it. I think you'll be amazed. Take an hour or so to get to know the interface. It's not that complex and there is plenty of help on the forums and directly from the developer. Speaking of Mr. Hendrickson, he is responsive and helpful to any questions you may have. I am so impressed, I'm buying my license now.

Rocks the House! - RAlfieri

And I forgot one really cool thing! It redirects my GOOD email to my mobile phone email account. Now if it could just clean my house for me. :)
