I have used synchronize pro for over 3 years now, mainly to do bootable nightly backups of Tiger & Leopard servers that would need to be back online immediately following a boot drive failure. With this new update, I get notified whenever a backup time is missed, completes, or has errors. The emails include the log file explaining exactly what errors occurred so they can be resolved, or when the backup is a total success it gives information on the time of backup and amount of data copied.
I also use it, and recommend it to clients with laptops for "bootable" backup purposes. Synchronize Pro can be configured to do a bootable backup to an external firewire or usb drive, in the background, whenever that drive is connected and mounts. It will trigger the backup script to run when the drive becomes available. If the hard drive in their laptop fails, they can boot off of the external backup and be back immediately - without having to RESTORE anything. Also, if the external drive purchased has a 2.5" SATA notebook drive inside, you can install the drive in place of the bad drive.
I've tried several other products, but most leave one important feature out here or there. Synchronize Pro, with the addition of email notification, now has all the features I use for various types of backups. I highly recommend it.

Excellent Product - rcwallis
From my experience with Super Duper, it is a complicated process to set up a backup script to trigger when a drive is connected and becomes available. In Syncronize pro, it only requires clicking one checkbox in the script settings.I contacted shirt-pocket to find out how to do it and they responded quickly with the following:
----------------------------
You can use "Do Something When", along with the basic steps in the "One Touch Button" FAQ in the SD! FAQ, to cause a backup to occur when a drive is attached.
----------------------------
Granted, it can be done, but explaining it to a customer who is not a tech person is tough.
Plus, sync pro provides a web site, where I can log in and check the status of every backup I've got running, and I am notified by email if a backup fails, including the log of the failures.
I understand that you can write shell scripts that are triggered before and after a script runs that could do this, but again, most of my clients don't know how to write a shell script.
Super Duper is a very powerful program, however, when recommending a robust, easy to use app that doesn't require scripting to achieve your final results, I'm going to recommend Synchronize Pro.

SuperDuper does the job - decadence
Disinformation.SuperDuper if anything is easier to use and more reliable.
Customer support is a lot more friendly.
Licensing is a lot more friendly.
Frankly, life is just a whole lot better in the world of Shirt Pocket Software than the Qdea dungeons.

Since you keyed on "bootable nightly backups" as seeming to be the most important feature to you, could you please explain at least "one important feature" which you believe the five-star SuperDuper! left out at a quarter of the price of Synchronize! Pro?Because I sure haven't found any missing features...not a single one.
