Product Platform: MacOSX

I have a 18 month old MacBook Pro and I too get the "64-bit" install fail. You can't be serious!

No but Apple seems to be! Sun's installs fine on a Core Duo Dell why not Apple?

I bet your MBP is a CoreDuo, so it is not 64-bit capable.

Yes, that's my point! Apple is no longer supporting machines only 18 months old with updated releases of Java. Why not just make 10.6 64 bit only now!

Now that you bring that up, I am sure 10.6 will be 64-bit only and for Intel-Macs, so you will be be out of luck if you don't buy a newer mac.

It would be Vista time for me - Ilgaz

No, not because Vista is a better OS or there is anything Windows/PC combination can offer better suit for my needs. That would be the time I finally decide Apple is a iPod/iPhone manufacturer and NOT a serious computer company.
