Just as I thought -- my license is gone!

Feedback Type:  Commentary

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: 6-12 months

Recommend Product: NO

Being one of those who had purchased the app during a promo my old license obviously is no longer valid...!?! While I can understand that, there's one thing I don't understand: Why do companies not issue a little _advanced_ warning for those of us...???
But no, they just let you upgrade _and then_ tell you that your license is no longer valid and that you have to upgrade...!! Thanks a lot, guys...!!
Oh, there's another nice thing -- the upgrade rebate is measly 15% what with the new higher price tag makes almost 30$ for the update...!! Just as much as the app used to cost a few weeks ago...
As I said before I like the app but I feel a bit screwed and I don't have any intention of sending you guys any more money, so I'll just have to get used to fill in my forms manually again...

Hello again Mile,

This is a free upgrade for 1Password, in fact, the 74th free upgrade we released in the last 2 years. If you have a paid license, double check the 1Password > Licenses window and make sure your license is added there as it will still be valid.

If you had a Mac Gems promotional license, then a new license will need to be purchased to use this new version of 1Password. All Mac Gems licenses were received from this page, which clearly mentions no upgrades are included:

http://agilewebsolutions.com/promo/macgems

You can see the original offer above, albeit the CSS styling has failed and the layout is not as nice as it once was. Since this promo started, however, we decided to give out several free upgrades, over 10 in fact, as we wanted Mac Gem license holders to be able to use 1Password with Leopard (the promotion ran at about the same time Leopard was released, and it took about a month to get all the wrinkles ironed out).

We did not try to trick anyone into upgrading, as can be seen from the Update window:

In any event, if you upgraded accidentally, no worries! You can always install the previous version of 1Password from here:

https://agilewebsolutions.com/versions/list/one_password

I hope that helps clear things up.

Thanks!

Just as I thought -- my license is gone! - :: MILE ::

Thanks again for your replies!

I didn't mean to imply that you were tricking people into updating, it's just that an advanced warning would have been nice! Also I feel that the upgrade rebate isn't really too tempting cnsidering the price of the app, but then again that's just my personal point of view, of course...

Anyway, as good and convenient as the app is, I'll just have to decide if it's worth that price for me...but anyway, keep up the good work an please consider some localization at last...! ;)

Oh man, VT really need sto fix their comment feature -- either your comment gets uploaded several times or it just disappears...!? My lengthy reply just vanished...!? :(

Anyway, I'll keep it shorter this time then...so thanks again for your reply!

I didn't mean to imply that you actually "tricked" anybody, it just would have been nice to get some advanced warning before the update...

Well, I'll just have to decide myself if the update price will be worth it for me, I don't know yet...but anyway, keep up the good work with the app and please do finally give us international users some localizations...! ;)
