Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Have Not Tried

Hi all,
I have not installed this because it has to have a Root access to install. I have been looking for a program like this and it seems to get very good reviews, but why does it need Root access. Why would an office program need to install in the Root of the sys? Any help in understanding would be great.

Hum, no. You have to have an admin access, not the root access.

That's easy to fix! NeoOffice and OpenOffice by default use their own document format, but you can change the Preferences to have them save files as Microsoft Office format.

Under NeoOffice: Preferences, click on the Load/Save item and choose General. In the pane on the right, change the Default File Format settings for Text Document, Spreadsheet and Presentation to say "Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP" or similar. Click on OK to close the dialog.

You can also modify settings in the Finder so that when somebody double-clicks on a Word, Excel or PowerPoint document, NeoOffice will open that document automatically.
