Why not use iTunes to convert your .wav or .mp3 ringtone into a iPhone ringtone?
1. open the original .mp3 or .wav ringtone in iTunes
2. select the ringtone in iTunes and using the Advanced menu, convert it to AAC
3. drag the newly created AAC version of the ringtone from iTunes to your desktop
4. rename the extension to .m4r to make it a iPone ringtone
5. drag it back into iTunes, and sync your iPhone

Add custom ringtones to your iPhone.

This is somewhat true. I wasn't having much luck with 2.0 until I edited the file in quicktime to be shorter. I saved the edited file as an MPEG 4 then switched the extension as mentioned above.Saturday, July 19 2008 @ 03:11 PM PDT

If you are going to apply that kind of logic, why buy an iPhone at all? Why not use a couple of tin cans and a string? (or are you too young to know what I am even referring to?)Some of us are willing to pay extra for simplicity. Isn't that why you own a Mac in the first place?

Hello-This used to work, but I don't think this has worked since the 1.1.4 iPhone update.
The ringtone will appear in the iTunes Ringtones playlist for the iPhone, but won't appear on the iPhone after the sync.
At least that's what I've found in testing here.
If I'm mistaken, or made a mistake in the process, please correct me!
