To follow lkrupp's post: Up until now i have no idea why i kept using Canon's insufferable, cpu-hogging ToolBoox app. (v.4.13) While they updated the ScanGear driver the app remains untouched and will probably remain so. I d/l'ed VuseScan, started it and...silence...the G5's fans did not ramp up as they did with the ToolBox app. Paid for the STD version w/in minutes :)
