GREAT FEATURES, BUT...

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: 1-6 months

Have been using the program for a few months now (in trail mode). Beats out Snapz Pro in every way. Great features: zoom in/out of any section of the screen/at any time of the movie (determined at the editing stage, yes, there's an editing stage, not during the initial recording); ability to add multiple tracks (audio/video) similar to Final Cut (again, in the editing stage); when clicking the mouse, a click sound can be recorded; if wanted, the keys pressed will show up on the screen as type; the cursor can be highlighted, in different ways, at any time; and lots more. I especially like saving a recording in the H.264 codec (small file size/good qualtiy). In Snapz Pro, using H.264, the final result is always washed out and not true to the original color. In ScreenFlow, I've noticed a big improvement over Snapz Pro, the color in H264 is pretty close to the original screen. So, I hear you say, with all these great features, why did I give such a bad star rating. Answer: STABILITY!!! This program constantly crashes. It has a few other minor bugs and a few strange window settings for saving (all of which, I think, will eventually be straightened out). But stability is key. Without that, all the rest doesn't matter. And I'm sure the developers know about this problem, because they added a 'try to restore' feature after a crash. Bottom line: I create screen casts all the time and I wish this thing would work without the constant crash problems. But until it is a lot more stable (the next version or so?) I'm keeping the 100 bucks under my pillow.
