Not sure if this issue is connected with this update or the Airport 5.3.1 update. I'm posting it anyway:
Don't install this update if your primary network connectivity is wireless and if you are using real time audio applications! This causes your audio in/out to stutter, at least when using low latency settings (hence real time). The issue has supposedly been reported to Apple, also by various developers/vendors so I really hope they sort this our ASAP.
If you've installed the update (like me) you'll have to turn Aiport off to make the audio stutter/drop outs go away. Not sure if it's possible to revert back to an earlier Aiport driver version. I'm running 10.4.11 BTW, not sure if the issue also concerns 10.5.x users.
I'm on a Macbook Pro 2.33GHz with 3GB of memory. Issue discovered using Traktor DJ Studio 3.3.2.

Audio stutter - toby1981
I have installed the AirPort Extreme Update 2008-002 after having problems with stuttering real-time audio applications. I am now running on the new extreme card driver for one week. The problems with audio applications (stuttering audio) have been solved. They are now no longer appearing regardless of whether the airport card is turned on or off. However, stability has been decreased obviously. Today I had my first session using real-time audio software again (i.e. Reason 4) and the card lost connection to my wireless router completely. There was no way to re-connect to the wireless network instantly. My network did always disappear from the list of available networks after attempting to connect. I was able to build up a connection again after doing a PRAM / NVRAM reset and a SMC-reset. Did not try to do another audio session while the wifi was turned on so far. Hope this issue is going to be fixed soon. It's annoying.Reply to This
