Big lie to users for so long.

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

"Fixed: SD no longer prompts about a component update after each restart."

In Leopard 10.5.2 with all Apple updates applied as of today, this bug has never been fixed from version 4.x to 5.x. I have been reporting this same bug to Yazsoft for so many times through so many update releases to no avail (don't bother to do it again). Either it is a lie or testing has never been done properly before these releases.

In fact the problem is so simple to fix:

- Go to Application/Speed Download 5 folder and access package content of application Speed Download application by right clicking on icon and select option Show Package Contents.

- Copy and paste (so that file will not be moved) SpeedDownload Browser Plugin.plugin from folder Contents to final place in system folder /Library/Internet Plug-Ins.

- Copy and paste folder SpeedDownload Enhancer from folder Contents to final place in system folder /Library/InputManagers.

- Close all finder windows and restart Speed Download, no prompt for component update will ever appear again.

The cause of problem is these system files never been updated even after update has been executed in Speed Download application (check on dates of files to confirm this fact). Yazsoft's developers do not even know how to copy files properly with administrator right in the application code !!

Big lie to users for so long. - Yazsoft

If you were to install SD5 properly, you would see that this issue has been addressed. Previous versions of SD did not have this issue. If they did, it was probably due to a minor compiling error and was fixed promptly. All users that were experiencing the component update message have all emailed in expressing satisfaction with the fix in SD 5.0.2. If you need help installing, all you have to do is email us directly.

"If you were to install SD5 properly, you would see that this issue has been addressed"

Do you mean I did not know how to drag icon from mounted disk image into Application folder and follow installation instructions on display properly ? This is my 13th Mac since 1987, Mac OS X and iMac hardware platform are of latest versions with all updates applied. I have even cleaned up previous installation completely before installing SD 5.0.2.

"All users that were experiencing the component update message have all emailed in expressing satisfaction with the fix in SD 5.0.2."

Rogue salesmen use this technique to single out individual conscientious consumer and conveniently use it as excuse. How come I never have such problem with installations of all other Mac software ? Prove to me that I am either stupid or insane.

"If you need help installing, all you have to do is email us directly."

If this issue can be resolved long ago through your support, do you think I bother to post in this forum ?

Stop using more lies to cover previous lie and go fix the damn problem.

This is YET another good reason why I am not using Speed Download. I am currently using iGetter and it works great. Sure the GUI is not the same as SD but hey it does what I need it to do and the support that I get
from iGetter is excellent.

To read more issues with Yazsoft go to http://www.macheist.com/forums/

I have never used speed download until the MacHeist 2 bundle. I used SD and I liked it but from the responses of Yazsoft and the way they treat the MacHeist Users, I useed AppZappper to remove SD for good. I will not support a company that wants to screw its customers.
