Hi all,
In an effort to get IP Locator working again, I have switched it over to using geolocation information from HostIP.info. It used to work in conjunction with a script at DNSStuff.com, but they have since disabled it.
The good news is that it does work. More good news is that HostIP is a community effort with an open API, so the service is likely to be stable over time. The bad news is that HostIP's database is much less extensive than DNSStuff's was so you are more likely in this version to get either no match or only a country level match for a given IP. It also means that hostname support has gone away.
Unfortunately, this is out of my control. I have tried repeatedly to get the DNSStuff people to work with me on this, but to no avail.
You can help make the HostIP database more complete by entering location information (if you know it) when you the "No match" message in IP Locator.
Thanks for your understanding!
