This is just a quick question for the developer (or anyone else familiar with tax laws)
I was about to purchase the iPLM until it showed that I am being charged a tax. My loose understanding is that one cannot charge tax (especially for out of state transaction) when there is not a tangible/physical good involved. For example, if I were buying a boxed software DVD, which is also available in my state (say, from a physical store), then I can be charged a tax. I'm not sure if this is a physical goods issue or an out-of-state issue, but since I had never been charged a tax before under similar circumstances (buying software sold only online, from outside my state [MN]).
I hope I don't sound accusatory; I am genuinely curious how this works.
I appreciate any input! Thank you.

she stated she was from MN. you know nothing of this person- it is probably not arrogance, just stating a Q and hoping someone in the audience will answer. get a life and stop looking for things to blast people about. if you can't say something helpful, go to another site.Tuesday, October 07 2008 @ 05:24 AM PDT

@NCKitkatThe real question (now), based on what you have said is,
WHY POST IT HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE??
It's not a review, troubleshooting, etc., - it REALLY IS a question for the seller and not a world-wide audience or this site.

have not researched this, but I feel sure that software is tangible whether it is a download or on a disk. sellers have to pay tax, it is just generally "built in" to some things, and we don't realize there is tax. would not let that alone deter you from buying software you want.Tuesday, October 07 2008 @ 05:21 AM PDT

You post a question (not specific to the product) to a global audience. You seem totally oblivious that America isn't the world... that maybe most of the people reading your query aren't Americans... How arrogant is that?Reply to This
