Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

Recommend Product: YES

1. Here is the best link for downloading the expander, without having to give up your email address:

Stuffit Expander Download

Notice that the link also includes localized and prior versions, because not everyone is a native English speaker, nor are we all using Leopard. Bookmark it.

2. Why do people continue to comment about Stuffit Standard and Stuffit Deluxe here? This entry is for Stuffit Expander only, which most of us still need to use because of legacy compressed archives. Even if people completely stopped using Stuffit today to create new archives, we would still need the expander to be able to get access to all the archives that have been created over the last 15 years. I don't see a reason to bash the company because of the expander. It's free, it works, and when there's a bug or a problem, they fix it.

3. The built-in UNarchive function of OS X is not all that great. It has some annoying limitations that often cause people to prefer using third-party interfaces or utilities like GUI Tar, The Unarchiver, and yes, even Stuffit Expander. I don't use Stuffit to create archives, but I sure am thankful for the expander, which I think is a good multi-unarchiver. People seem to forget that it doesn't just expand .sit/.sitx, but just about everything else, too. In fact, even if there were no more .sit/.sitx files, I might still continue using the expander, because it works the way I like, which neither the built-in OS X unarchiver nor any of the other free utilities are quite able to match.

I Just Don't Understand - dasoe

I am happy, that I'm not the only one wondering about this thread and the often sheep-like arguments you find here. You perfectly put togehter everything that is to be said - I could not agree more.
Tank you for this bright comment!
