The suggestion below works, and is very easy to do. Just follow the steps outlined by rskinner, and you'll soon have a functioning PithHelmet again. I cannot stand to surf the web without PithHelmet.

The directions by rskinner do work, but I couldn’t open the info.plist files with TextEdit. I use an application called Bookdog, which sorts bookmarks, and it somehow interfered with opening the info.plist files. When I double-clicked on the files, it brought up an error message in Bookdog. When I tried to open them from TextEdit I got an error message that TextEdit could not open the files. So I used PListEdit Pro (shareware) to open the two .plist files, changed the numbers and it worked! No more ads in Safari!
Thank you very much, rskinner! Brilliant!
