I appreciate Ed Hamrick's continuous improvement to VueScan. But I sometimes fear he never takes a vacation which he certainly deserves! I used VueScan extensively for several years with an obsolete scanner and I am just as pleased with his application on my new Epson V500.. But it would be helpful to have Ed's recommendation on whether all users should download and install the update, or whether just those with the particular scanners that have fixes or improvements. Something like: "Recommended for all users" or "Recommended for users of the particular scanners listed. Update not required for other scanners." Thanks.

Update Recommendations - Mike Dustan

Ed Hamrick's policy is (or used to be) that he insists you have the latest version installed before he'll entertain any problem reports. While it means we users have to make sure we can demonstrate the problem with the latest version, it also means Ed only has to support one revision of his product. I have no problem with this approach since the upgrade process is a simple drag-and-drop.

I believe that since I never know when I may wish to change/upgrade my printer, it's safer to always upgrade VueScan in the event of any unforeseen problems. Mr.Hamrick has always been incredibly responsive to my "issues"... so up-to-date is "up to you."

Ed does NOT keep online older versions. So I suggest you do as I do: keep old versions around
