I have a first gen Mac Pro 8core. Ever since upgrading to Leopard its experienced Video Freezes. Firmware update 1.0 was not needed since machine was purchased after its release.

Where is the update for the X1900 XT? - Rick Baumhauer

I believe that the X1900XT problems in Leopard are heat-related. If you are still under AppleCare, you should be able to exchange your current card (probably Version 1 card) for a new (Version 2) card. If your AppleCare has expired, you should still contact Apple, as this is a known issue.

I had mine replaced by Apple and now my Mac is working again. It was under the Apple Care though, but the service guy said it was a known problem by Apple.

I spent a lot xtra to buy the X1900 XT right when the Pros were released. It worked fine for like a year. then with leopard it just killed it.
the last leopard upgrade fixed some of those annoying lines all over problems but there are still so many more.
my friends that bought around the same time as me, hers just died all the way & won't even turn on. apple should fix that card or send refunds because thats ridiculous.

i paid a lot lot lot for it & waited extra weeks to get it. since I went past the 1 year warranty day by like a week they wont replace it. even though it started with leopard and i reported it then but they said it was quote, FINE. yea sure apple. it is a big joke
