if you have an intel mac you can do more or less the same with Audio Hijack Pro
just hijack the program you don't want to make sound and press the mute button.

Not really. Detour did much more than mute. It routed to various outputs and you could set different volume levels for each app.I miss this too and would pay a lot to get it back.
