I don't know exactly how safe this product is to use -- I don't know what it does to control the sleep settings or whether it might interfere with future OS upgrades.

I hope the author will comment on that here.

But for now I will give this product the benefit of the doubt. In terms of functionality, it does something very useful, and it does it in a simple, elegant way. And it does it for free.
