Thanks for your feedback on our pricing!
We try to price our products very competitively, and we believe that if you look at the alternatives in the same space (such as Visio and ConceptDraw) you'll find that our product is priced very reasonably. (And most of our customers strongly prefer it to those alternatives!)
I hope that you’ll take a second look at all the new features in OmniGraffle 5—it’s a very substantial upgrade. But you don’t have to take my word for it, we offer a two-week free trial (with full access to all features).

Well, for a home user, it seems like OmniGraffle Pro would be a bit of overkill. A big chunk of the work that went into this version was the ability to parse binary Visio documents, which I wouldn't think was a feature you'd use much at all, and I'm a bit surprised that folks would even consider buying features they don't need.Keep in mind that we do offer an upgrade path from Version 4 Pro to version 5 standard; I sorta wonder if some of the folks that are upset have considered that option. We try really hard to *not* let the standard versions of our applications be something folks can't get real work done in...

I agree that Visio support was probably huge. Lumping that in with multi-page document support might be why so many folks are grumbling. The single-page limitation of the non-pro graffle is why I bought pro (1, then paid for 2, 3 and 4)...but I agree with other folks that this "upgrade train" has gotten too expensive, and I'm hopping off.Maybe if you added multi-page support, and nothing else, to non-pro, And gave folks like us a "real deal" on the Pro-to-regular "downgrade" that a lot of good will would be regained.

As much as I like you and the Omni Group, this upgrade fee is excessive.I don't recall people complaining about an Omni upgrade prior to this one. Perhaps the exception has been OMNIWeb, since most browsers are free, but other than that I think that your customers have accepted previous upgrades fees which have been reasonable.
This one actually makes me question whether or not to upgrade any of my other 5 or 6 Omni apps once upgrades become available.

Oh yes, OmniGraffle is light years ahead of Visio and ConceptDraw. I am in dire NEED to get away from ConceptDraw, but until OG can open/import those files, I can't see upgrading this time... Not for $75. The Visio-XML import from ConceptDraw doesn't work (not sure whose end this is on)I get this:
The document “DOC_NAME.vdx” could not be opened. _segmentIndexForElementIndex:: index (1) beyond bounds (1)
Which is what I've always received when trying to open exported docs in Visio. I would love to see support to open CD files -- then I'm on board w/ the upgrade.

Unfortunately, I had the same reaction to the high upgrade price of $75 because Omnioutliner Pro and Omnigraffle Pro were viewed as price competitive products compared to what was previously available. I was using Inspiration version 7 for flowcharting because of its speed and outlining combination capability, but the Inspiration graphics were subpar when compared to Omnigraffle Pro.(By the way, I actually bought your first product out of the box. And that was Omniweb when it first came out in 2000 or so. I still love it.)
But this $75 upgrade price for Omnigraffle Pro was a shocker.
Maybe I expected too much. But Visio export and import are givens for the Pro version in my opinion. I would expect nothing less from your fine company.
I use it heavily for presentations. But I also use Keynote, Pages, Excel, Photo Elements and a number of other apps in addition to Omnigraffle Pro to create presentations. I can't afford your high upgrade prices plus all of the others at the same time.
So I do not plan to upgrade at that price at this point. And I probably never will until it just won't work under the latest OS.
If you charged for upgrades once every three years, then fine. But You charge annual upgrades, so I think you need to keep them smaller if you want to grow and keep a large base of users.

I really like OmniGraffle. It is a wonderful program. All of the "Omni-" programs are.At the same time, $75 for an upgrade? That is outrageous. I can't afford it. For a home user who needs a good value for the money, this doesn't fit the bill.
