I've just done some Googling for the meaning of "internet-enabled disk image". Here's some info on the Apple Developer site:

It appears that the term refers to a disk image that, when downloaded by the browser, automatically opens, extracts its contents to the download folder, and then moves itself to the Trash, so all you are left with is an application file or folder of files. I've seen this behavior with many downloads. Since I typically archive my downloads, I have to go to the Trash to retrieve the .dmg file when this happens.
