Now it's over an hour... If this is indicative, I'd avoid this update like the plague.

tlandfried, I came into the same problem... I fixed the problem, by unhooking my iPhone from the cable, and restarting. After restarting, I opened iTunes, and went to the iTunes Music Store. (This is important because if you don't, the application will not act like it's connected to the internet, and the final update will fail). After you have checked out the music store (go to a couple of different places in the store to make sure it's working), then hook your iPhone back up, and wait a minute or two. The update should complete and it should bring you back to a working iPhone. Following these steps helped me after I did a hard reset, and restore iphone did not work. So hopefully, these will help you as well.Good Luck, Fletch.

I wound up calling technical support and they asked me to force quit iTunes, reboot and try it again. It didn't work. So I forced-quit iTunes again and connected again and this time it worked. Frustrating.Wednesday, February 27 2008 @ 08:05 PM PST
No Problems here - portlandGuy
Completed the 1.1.4 Update through iTunes 7.6.1. No problems whatsoever with download or update process, which iTunes did automatically. iPhone activated with no delay. Completed a 2d Sync and an iPhone restart. Everything working great.Reply to This
