To the MacHeist Community,
This is a follow-up to our previous press release.
http://yazsoft.com/content/mh.html
Thank you for all the input that you have provided us (the bad and the good). We would like to take this opportunity to add some more information in order to hopefully clarify a few issues that still remain at large.
Regarding the promo version of Speed Download 4 on MacHeist, there was never an agreement to offer licenses that were of equal standing to those purchased at full price via our online store. While the software is fully functional and fully supported, the upgrade policy is different. We regret not explicitely stating this. We also realize the upgrade grace period that has added to the confusion.
Further, we realize now that having the upgrade pushed out via the update feature was perhaps not the best idea. The intention behind it was for practicality purposes. Clearly, the result was that it was a mistake.
We got involved without communicating our terms clearly enough and in hindsight should have sought a formal contract to at least help avoid issues such as this.
We realize a lot of you are upset about this, and this upsets us as well. We are primarily software developers. We have made some mistakes here and for that we apologize. Please feel free to email us with your concerns and we will be happy to accommodate you.
Sincerely,
The Speed Download Team

Follow-up to Yazsoft Press Release regarding MacHeist - Kevin Browne
The principal problem here is that you are fully prepared to acknowledge your mistakes (which are evident to all concerned), but you are not prepared to rectify those mistakes. A responsible company would accept it made an error, look to accommodate its customers, look to revive its sinking reputation, and offer a complimentary upgrade to the individuals directly affected. There was no ambiguity in your literature and there is no caveat for methods of purchase. To quote:
"Users that have registered SD 4 from Jan 01, 2008 to Feb 12, 2008 can upgrade to SD 5 for FREE."
No one is looking for Yazsoft to give away its products, simply meet the terms as stated.
