Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: YES

Applied this Security Update as I do all , per Macfixit recommendation.
I download the stand alone package, (I never use Software Update), Repair Permissions, then start in Safe Mode (Holding the Shift key down on restart) then apply update and restart. The restarts are always slow.
Then I immediately Repair Permissions and get the following results with almost every Security Update:

Determining correct file permissions.
Permissions differ on ./Library/Application Support/Macromedia/Shockwave 10/Shockwave 10 Preferences, should be -rwxrwxr-x , they are -rw-rw-r--
Owner and group corrected on ./Library/Application Support/Macromedia/Shockwave 10/Shockwave 10 Preferences
Permissions corrected on ./Library/Application Support/Macromedia/Shockwave 10/Shockwave 10 Preferences

Permissions repair complete
The privileges have been verified or repaired on the selected volume

This method has worked for me every time so far. Plus I test all my updates on an external Firewire drive first before applying to my internal HD.

Works fine though. Printer and all.
Good luck

So Far it is fine - Never use Software Update - MeV

I also downloaded the update but didn't install it with startup applications turned off. This update wiped my list of login applications, trashed my CUPS configuration (I figure only full reload will fix that), and broke my cron jobs.

Not a good score for Apple at this point. I've taken to backing up (besides my regular backups) prior to installing any Apple update. So far, it's saved me four times from an unusable system.
