Yazsoft's latest trick has been to try and screw people who bought their product via the MacHeist promotion by refusing to allow them to upgrade to version 5 for free.
They have even changes their website content when they found out that several MacHeist users had spotted their scam.

Deleted Speed Download from my Application folder. And also will never buy a MacUpdate promo ever again. I do not want to use an application from dishonest people. The difference between UPDATE and UPGRADE is well understood since time immemorial so it is mighty disingenuous for Yazsoft to tell us that what was free was UPDATES not UPGRADES when the advertised language on the promo was UPGRADES.
Thumbs down Yazsoft! Thumbs down MacUpdate Promo!

BXP, you are confused. Speed Download was part of MacHEIST 2, not the Macupdate promo. And while I agree that Yazsoft suckered people who bought their app as part of MacHeist 2, you would be a fool to delete all of the programs.1Password in particular is a really outstanding program and worth more than all of the other apps combined, imho. Not only that, but the application is constantly updated/improved and the developers are a shining example of how to treat their customers. They are a pleasure to deal with and very responsive to customer feedback.

Hmmm....So who mentioned the free upgrade/update ??
If it was the promo, talk to them.
And, to go from v4 to v5 is only about $8 - barely worth worrying about.

Yazsoft mentioned the free upgrade to all purchasers:From the Yazsoft site:
If you purchased SD 4 between Jan 01, 2008 and Feb 12, 2008, you may upgrade to SD 5 for FREE.
However later on yesterday they added a clasue specifically excluding MacHeist users from this upgrade.
If you want to read the whole story you can do so at the Macheist forums, the full extent of Yazsoft's deceptive and underhand marketing tactics are well documented there.

@ ghostlexxI hope you've had noticed by now that complains are not about the update/upgrade being a paid one (or a cheaper one as you seem to point out), but about the way even Microsoft ever considered to use (till now) to get paid...
Yesterday while I was using that product, a windows told me there was an UPDATE (no mentions it was a paid one) and apart from the legalese considerations about update/upgrade, that rendered useless my paid version 4!
Just as your bank reingenereed their website forcing you after first access to open a new account without letting you use the old one..
And that's enough to stay away from them..

I've immediately uninstalled this ... app!I've always fear that all of this macheist-macupdate promos were a meaning to sell outdated apps, but at least until this I've always had a "update to be paid" box..
Not This Time!
go sell somewhere else Yazsoft..
