I"ve be a Mac user for 20 years, and have never been disappointed until now. I've upgraded to Leopard twice, only to return to Tiger, (most recently being yesterday). How could they even release an OS with a non functional disk utility? Trying to repair disk permissions freezes. Come on!

For shame, Apple - JohnDCCIU

Disk Utility doesn't "freeze" when repairing permissions, it just takes way, way more time than it did under Tiger. There's a lot more happening beneath the surface in Leopard.

Bottom Line: relax and let it run and it should finish normally. You can multitask in other apps or just let it do its thing, no big deal.
