I cannot get the download at all - it just keeps "loading" and nothing appears.

Be patient! - Andreas..

Get used to having d/loading difficulties with any newly-announced popular product. The server(s) get inundated. Try later or tomorrow.

won't download.. it is a joke! - imobile

Same here.... it is so SO slow. Downloads at 9-10k a sec whilst SeaMonkey update just downloaded at over 600k sec ( 1/60th the download speed ...I'm on Extreme Cable)
Then when downloads it won't mount disk image.
Some tech tool huh? A Paleolithic tool! Where are u Barney?

I went to SeaMonkey browser rather than Safari, googled MacUpdate page and voila. Downloaded around 60k /sec in 2mins 12 secs!
Installed.
Suggest one ties that route!
