I haven't tried this software yet because I already have the same functionality (bi-directional syncing) between iCal and Google Calendar (and Yahoo Calendar and Outlook (and my address books too).) I'm using the free version of Plaxo. It *seems* to work well, but as I never see it mentioned when discussing these syncing products, I'm starting to wonder why.
Is there something inherently wrong w/ Plaxo that I'm missing? What does this provide that Plaxo doesn't?
(Seriously looking for enlightenment here!)

Er… Sorry to spoil the pleasure of shedding your money on SpanningSync, but Plaxo does sync iCal and Google Calendar bidirectionally.Sunday, February 24 2008 @ 04:28 PM PST

Actually, it doesn't quite.Plaxo syncs the events that I create, but the events that others put on my calendar do not get synced with Plaxo, and therefore not with iCal.

Plaxo does have the address book sync that we really can't do with Gmail's address book and Apple's, and that's really the only leg up Plaxo has on Google.Google's Calendar is much more usable than Plaxo's, which comes across as an Outlook imitator. Google has leveraged the whole "Web 2.0" thing much better than Plaxo has, creating an iCal for the web (that is, if you aren't using .mac).
I've been using Spanning Sync for a while and I've found it to be quite good and I can share my Google calendars with non-Google users. I also don't see an easy way to publish public calendars (which I can do with Google). I manage much more than just one calendar, so a flexible solution is important to me.
But if Plaxo works for you, then that's what matters.
