joomla is a great cms (content management system). i used it to build a couple of web sites that i needed to be updateable by non-web-savvy people, and it's great. there are a boatload of extensions for it that can make it do all kinds of things, from e-commerce to user management to group management to file hosting and so on. highly recommended!! (not sure why it's listed in versiontracker, as it's just php and web-based so you access it through any browser)

A great CMS - eagleshout

I was wondering why this was listed in here, but then I saw that Joomla just released a security fix. Hopefully more people we see this in here and spread the word to minimize their risk. Go Joomla!

I am also wondering why Joomla! is listed on Mac OS VersionTracker. It is a web-based Content Management System. Even worse, it didn't actually always work with Safari, but Camino worked pretty well.

I love it, and have been using Joomla! for nearly three years now. There is a huge learning curve, with the lingo, mainly, since Joomla! is an open-source fork of Mambo after it went commercial.

That said, Joomla! is possibly the most extensible and customizable CMS solution anywhere. Learn the lingo, and it's a snap!

go figure!

Anyone have a recommendation for the best tutorial / book for learning the basics of Joomla? I'm a newbie at it.
