First, in my experience of them over the years, StClair are nice people with well thought-out products and I don't think their upgrade fees are at all unreasonable.
But who on earth asked them to redesign the interface of DefaultFolderX? - customers? - I don't think so. It is truly awful - both ugly and unstable. (The reviewer who said "overbearing" hit the jackpot.) Two weeks of this and I was back on Seroxat®! It's v3.0.6 for me, folks.

Fixed in 4.0.1b1 - St. Clair Software
Please give the 4.0.1 beta a try. There's an alternate, non-HUD look, and stability is worlds better under 10.4.x (where there was definitely a problem because it used QuickTime to generate previews, and several QuickTime plug-ins crashed or used ridiculous amounts of memory).Reply to This
