High CPU load normal?

Used Product For: Less than a month

since installing yesterday, on my Mac Pro Activity Monitor is showing that QS is running between 100 - 200 % ... can it be it takes so long and needs so much power for indexing my mac or what is wrong?

System Info:OS X 10.4.10 - Mac Pro 2 x 2 GHz Dual-Xeon - 3 GB Ram
