I'm not sure where the 5 star ratings are coming from but I just didn't like this program at all. I found it totally unintuitive, and strangely convoluted. Granted, I am coming from the Audio Hijack world, but I wanted to try something else just to see if it was a smoother operation. It wasn't. The Library window and the separate other windows make it a very non-cohesive program and I was always searching for things. I paid $30 bucks for it (just dove in - my fault) but live and learn.
The only plus was the editing window which was a nice touch as opposed to Fission, which I generally like, but can get on my nerves too. Audio Hijack may not be perfect, but I can get things done with it 3X faster than with Wiretap.

WireTap Studio is a product we spent a lot of time designing and developing. It changes the audio recording and editing segment in terms of innovative technologies, like LivePreview and lossless recording and editing. We've won major awards, like the Macworld Eddy, received many high rating review, and as you've seen from other comments here on VersionTracker, received a lot of praise and good feedback.
I'd like to strongly suggest you watch our video tutorials, which are located here:
http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/wiretap/videos.html
They will provide you with an overview of the powerful technologies of the application, and also how easy it is to use. Some of the controls are so easy, they are confusing. Think of this like the Mac OS X Dock: People always ask me, "How do I add something or remove something?" Of course, you just drag it in or out, which, once you know is easy, but it's not necessarily apparent or logical at first glance.
Also, feel free to provide feedback and suggestions to our support staff at help@AmbrosiaSW.com -- thanks for taking the time to provide feedback, and we hope you'll check out the tutorials and give WireTap Studio a second look!
