Hello,

it happens quite often that I need to repair my disk permissions. Even though I haven't installed any software on my G5 workstation and my workstation is rarely connected to the internet.

---
Determining correct file permissions.
Permissions differ on ./private/var/log/secure.log, should be -rw-------, they are -rw-r-----
Owner and group corrected on ./private/var/log/secure.log
Permissions corrected on ./private/var/log/secure.log
---

What exactly does that mean? And why is this happening?

I have only been working on the machine for the past weeks. I haven't installed anything or whatsoever.

What could be the cause that the permissions differ?

graphically & sincerely,

Repairing disk permissions - leftblank-:o)

Ummm, wouldn't it be better to search the Apple Support site (150+ references for this subject) and perhaps the Apple Forums than put this up here? This isn't really a helpline ....! ;o)
