Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: YES

I'm on a MacBook 2.16 GHz running 10.4.11, and it works great for me.
maybe you just need to try it a couple times when it fails.
like any old NES gamer, keep pushing the button.

This program gives it the K.I.S.S.
I like that.
and it works.
and it isn't a source of headaches.
I reccomend it.

Suggestions to Developer:
It could benefit from a memory of previous MACs I've used
I like that in MacDaddyX I don't have to type the colons, but that's all I like about that app.

Caveat:
I launched another app MacPilot only once and after that ChangeMAC does not work in my user. there's no GUI
However, it works fine in another user so this has probably got nothing to do with ChangeMAC.
I'm gonna go bash MacPilot right now.

P.S.
The developer, Gerard Briscoe, is an awesome guy.
Despite the fact that MacPilot caused the problem and this isn't his responsibility, he has sent me 6 emails to support this problem, and has even gone beyond the support I've gotten from AppleCare.
All this on top of his thesis!
What a nice guy!

It is a repeatedly reported problem that changing the ethernet MAC address on newer Intel Macs (mostly Intel Core 2 Duo) cannot be done in Leopard.
No problem to spoof MAC address if running Tiger, also no problem in Windows (BootCamp) or Linux on the very same Macintosh.
Spoofing Airport MAC still works in Leopard. Evidence is high that the problem lies within the Leopard ethernet drivers (see comment 10 on http://www.cneophytou.com/2008/01/19/spoofing-leopards-mac-address/)

If the following does not succeed in Terminal, ChangeMAC as of v1.5.1 wont either:
#change MAC on en0 (=build in ethernet)
sudo ifconfig en0 lladdr xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
#shutdown and restart en0 interface
sudo ifconfig en0 down
sudo ifconfig en0 up
#get the MAC currently in use by en0:
sudo ifconfig en0 | grep ether

ChangeMAC uses the very same command to change the MAC, as you can see in system.log.
I just tested ChangeMac v1.5.1 on iMac Core 2 Duo (Mid 2007) running 10.5.3 and I can confirm it is unable to change the en0 MAC. Guess we have to wait for Apple to fix that. As soon as it works again in Terminal.app, ChangeMAC should be fine again.
