The default disk install will not patch via any of the Adobe official downloads, nor via the Adobe Net updater. Neither v8.1 patch, nor v8.1.1 patch works. A message suggests that some Plug-ins may have been disabled (certainly not by me - I just installed the beast from original disks). The message also suggested to re-install Acrobat Professional. So I tried to re-install just Acrobat Professional 8.0.0 from the original disks, and Disk 2 was suddenly requested - you know, the one with technical resources. No such disk was supplied by Adobe in the 3-disk pack they delivered.
Presently Acrobat is not looking very Professional

v8.0.0 will not patch - Solution - PaulEdward
To reinstall Acrobat you need Disk 2, which is a downloadable disc image that looks like this: AdobeExtendScriptToolkit2.0.1All.dmgIt may take a while to find it on the Adobe site, but it's the solution for a successful reinstall. I keep the image in my application folder. Whenever I have to reinstall Acrobat (like yesterday), I open the dmg file first so the installer can find it.
