Unable to read eBooks with Leopard because Adobe's DRM is incompatible with OS 10.5.

Web browser plugin doesn't work on Intel Macs with Firefox.

Web browser plugin on Safari is painfully slow.

Have you tried PDF Download add on from Firefox?
It works very well for me.
I don't use Safari much these days
