It's one thing to charge for the software, but as I understand it, this is open source software that he's modified, so any changes he makes to it are required to me made open source as well. By putting it behind a locked door (i.e. you don't get the source until you pay for it) he's breaking the license, last I checked.

Where's the source? - barabas1

Is this actually derived from a GPL project? If so, anyone can charge for it, but has to provide source to people who buy it, and the source has to stay GPL, so purchasers could re-distribute it without restriction. If you already paid for a copy and are willing to share, post a URL here.

It's legal to charge a download fee - ilikefreeware2

Read GPL-2, it's OK to charge a download fee for the source as long as the source is distributed with the program. I got a copy of the source code with my download. So you're objecting to paying $1.39 for the entire thing when you spent thousands for your Mac? How cheap can you get?

Very cheap, as in free. Download "Rember" instead, which contains Memtest in the package. Remember, the guy selling Memtest here isn't the actual author of Memtest. He's just some guy who put it up for download on his website.
