Dear vze26wyc_dotmac,

I couldn't help but look back through some of your prior posts. Its fair to say you've had a bit of tough going lately. I had a similar experience some time back. I just happened to discover a few bad sectors on my HD that would cause all sorts of random grief. Have you run any utilities to verify the surface condition of your disk? After my discovery I backed up to FW then did a zero out erase. After copying back from my FW external everything became reliable again. I used TechTool Deluxe to run the scan.

This is new 24” 2.8 I-Mac and several time right on the screen there is a message “hard Drive” I run 10.5 disk and it goes away for awhile then comes back. What is made for 10.5 at this point to check for bad blocks?
TT Pro did a good job on 10.4x - This happened on an old G-4 and I ran from the back drive for months. Time Machine does not do that.
