I spent the day putting my Mac os 10.4 dmg install images back onto cd's and spent 5 hours cloning my hard drive to an external firewire.
Now soon after breakfast tomorrow I'll do a manual clean install. Then hopfully transfer all my apps, keychain, user stuff on to the clean install from the external.
I'm only guessing on how to do that so I'll see if I can find something on the web. I don't have the room for an archive install so I'll wing it. Just like Apple does when they write software.
Put it out to the public test rats and see what fries.
I'll check back tomorrow before doing it and maybe some kind person will leave me a link or something telling me how to do this.

"I don't have the room for an archive install so I'll wing it."That may be the root of your problem. Just how much free space do you have? Anything less than 20% from what I've seen using OSX is just asking for problems. I always keep free space at no less than 50% on my hard drives so that may be why I've been so "lucky" as you put it.
