Once in a while I come by open sore software and there is no way to install it. It just gives you a folder full of folders that have strange stuff in it. I guess some use the X11 app to use. I have that but have no idea how to us it. I like using a computer, not making it work. I take it that this "application" here installs those apps or am I going to download this only to find that it's another open sore.
I don't want that disappointment and waste of time. I guess we'll never know.

I think I'll stay with applications that only need a double click to open.

MacPorts uses Unix packages. You need to run most of them from the command line. You can also use a graphical interface such as PortAuthority or Porticus to install them from MacPorts.
