have used default folder for you and find it invaluable. have received numerous upgrades at no charge so the nominal upgrade fee for this version really doesn't bother me at all.
this new version works fine on all of my machines; however, i must say that i really, really, really hate, and i do mean hate, the L & F of this new black interface. very oppressive. very annoying. very distracting.
please offer users the ability to change the look and feel of the interface.
please.

works fine for me, but... - St. Clair Software
I'll be adding some options to tone down the UI in the next revision - hopefully quite soon. Seems that people either love the new look or hate it - I've gotten lots of email saying how beautiful it is, and a number of comments complaining that it's distracting and/or reduces usability.- Jon

Dark theme... - MacHound
Thanks, Jon, for all your hard work over the years. I've been a registered D.F. user since OS 8.x days. Before that, I was a registered Boomerang & Super-Boomerang user.I'm glad Apple left well enough alone and didn't steal your business as they have done others'. That speaks volumes about Apple's respect for your work.
I agree with the OP. The gray theme harkens back to Iron Curtain days. A less austere exterior would be welcome -- at least as an option.

Both are available in 4.0.1b1 - St. Clair Software
Please check out version 4.0.1b1 - you can have the dark HUD theme, or an "old-style" gray sidebar hanging off the side of the file dialog.- Jon
