As always I am giving Default Folder high marks for functionality, features and quality. I have used it for many years and have always considered it a must have utility. The new features that have been added are well done and useful. With this new version I must, for the first time, reduce the rating score I give it. The dark opaque menus are very hard for me to read. It is very distracting to be able to see open background windows and text that show through the drop down menus. It's hard to focus on the content of the Default Folder menus while trying to filter out what I see behind them. Add to that the new incredibly ugly black and white icons and the whole thing looks rough and unfinished to me.
I know that opaque things are the new rage with all things Leopard now but it is all just unnecessary eye candy to me. Opaque adds nothing, and actually detracts from the ease of use feeling I have had with the Mac in the past. It was a huge mistake for Default Folder to try to look like Leopard.

Actually, semiopaque might better describe the Default Folder menus.Wednesday, December 12 2007 @ 01:22 PM PST

You are correct - I misspoke when I said opaque - but you do understand my meaning. I have difficulty with the semitransparent menus.Wednesday, December 12 2007 @ 01:10 PM PST
Why Didn't You Contact the Developer First? - MAC_1984
Instead of lambasting the developer with a demoed star rating over a GUI that you question (I like the new GUI) why didn't you contact the developer. I have contacted the developer in the past, and he is more than willing to listen to what you have to say and consider changing matters or add options.Wednesday, December 12 2007 @ 01:36 PM PST

Not to argue your point, but you meant, I assume, "translucency" or "transparency," not "opaque." You cannot see through opaque.Reply to This
