Folders lose links

Feedback Type:  Review

Contributed by: Simon Chapman Sunday, December 09 2007 @ 03:45 PM PST

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: NO

Does just what I want it to but not for long enough! Within a couple of clicks after adding Quay folders to the Dock, the first folder, ie whichever is on the left, loses its link. If I do nothing, the second folder will shortly lose its link too, and so on. I get a couple of uses out of a Dock folder before the link corrupts. This makes Quay unusable for me -- even though there's a kludgy workaround, which is to never click on the first folder but just use the others. This is a new iMac 24in with Os 10.5.1. Five stars when it's fixed.

Folders lose links - Rainer Brockerhoff

Simon; I'm working on this. Oddly enough, I can't reproduce this on any of my own Macs, and very few users are running into this bug - so far there's no common circumstance I can find.

The new version (which should be out after Christmas) will use a different scheme that should avoid whatever causes this. My apologies.

I'm having the same problem. It'll work for about a week, and then the next time I go to click on the folder icon, I get the icon and a question mark. I'm using version 1.0.1 on a MacPro running Leopard and Intego VirusBarrier. I am using Time Machine. I hope this gets fixed soon, or I'll be forced to deal with the sucky way Leopard does folders in the dock (egads! So many BAD changes in Leopard to the programs we love and the interface the way we like it!! Any attempt to complain in the Apple forums about the changes to iCal guarantees that the thread will be shut down).

If I could also suggest that you have a way to do more than one folder at a time, without relaunching the program after every folder move. Maybe a link that says, "Do you want to put another folder in the dock?" and then gives me the option to do another one without closing and relaunching Quay. If one link goes south, the others are likely to also, and then I'm stuck putting all those folders back on my dock.

I've had this problem since I first installed Quay. It's so annoying that I quit using Quay. I simply cannot afford the time required to rebuild every Quay item in my dock. I feel it's a waste of money.
