I was having problems entering my license # for NNW v. 3.1b31. Had a pre-existing account for 1-year subscription. Did a clean wipe of hard drive to install Leopard & downloaded current version of NNW. After entering username & password from pre-existing account, NNW's activation wizard stated that no record of my account was found. My trial period of NNW v. 3.1b31 was almost up & app wouldn't accept my license #.
Remembering my past experiences (June '07) where NNW provided excellent support services for same problem on older version... I tried emptying the Web cache (not sure if that option was in earlier versions?) from the NNW menu (right beneath the Preferences menu). Voila! I'm able to register the license # for the app. Safari is my default browser for NNW; I didn't rigorously test whether having Safari's cookies activated was part of the activation success or not. I keep cookies turned off & deleted as much as possible.
Love the NNW app! Industrial-strength RSS reader as I'm a heavy feedster... the Find function is worth the subscription. Don't believe Lite versions don't have Find function. Version 3 is much more stable. Occasionally NNW 2. would crash when I was scrolling my 1500 feeds from many del.icio.us tags. No crashes in v. 3.
Would like clearer instructions when activation wizard won't accept your info... such as "Try emptying the NNW Web cache."
