No longer freeware!

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

Recommend Product: NO

Despite the lack of a version history for 10.4.0, and that VersionTracker still says it's freeware, upon launching the application you find that it wants you to pay for a $13 license.

Nowhere on the developer's site do I see that WhatSize is no longer freeware - you can't even buy the app on the developer's site, you've got to buy it through the app itself.

I've used WhatSize for years because it was a great, free alternative to OmniDiskSweeper. Now, I'll have to reassess which one I'm going to use. Furthermore, as I trashed my old copy for this one (because there was NO indication it was no longer freeware), I'm more likely to pay the extra $2 to The Omni Group instead.

I'm giving it 4 stars because although the app itself is great, the developer clearly has no idea how to transition a freeware app into shareware. This is unfortunate, I really liked this software.

No longer freeware! - kdeda68

Writing a piece of software takes time and energy.
This version was totally redesigned and has support for System Administrator (that took way too long)
The WebSite was updated and so is Version Tracker.
My sincere apologies for this.
Now please support our products.

Guess you're not using Time Machine, huh?

I did the same thing (trashed the app before I realized it had transitioned to shareware) and then decided to try out Time Machine's recovery feature for the first time. Worked like a champ and brought back the old freeware copy with no problem.
